The NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA) is a statutory body responsible for regulating and supporting non-governmental organizations in Malawi. The Authority promotes a well governed, transparent, and accountable NGO sector that contributes to national development.
Guided by it’s the NGO Act, NGO Policy, and Strategy, NGORA focuses on creating an enabling legal and institutional framework and strengthening collaboration among NGOs, Government institutions, funding agencies, and other stakeholders. These efforts improve coordination, protect stakeholder interests, and align NGO activities with national priorities.
NGORA also promotes integrity, transparency, and accountability while supporting strong governance structures within NGOs. Through compliance oversight and capacity building initiatives, the Authority works to strengthen leadership, improve service delivery, and build a credible and resilient NGO sector in Malawi.
